A quarter of the way into the season, Rocket Nation remains divided on sophomore quarterback Austin Dantin, and Toledo wide receiver Eric Page provided a hint this week that the Rockets have absorbed at least some of the criticisms of their starting signal-caller.

While discussing last weekend's 37-24 win at Western Michigan, Page had this to say about Dantin: “He came out and proved to everyone that he should be the starting quarterback and stay the starting quarterback for our team.”

Nobody in the media – including myself – has suggested Dantin shouldn't be the starting quarterback. And I have to believe there wasn't dissension on the team on who should be taking the snaps behind center. (If there was, it's died away.) So it's fairly safe to assume Page was addressing UT fans who called for redshirt freshman Terrance Owens or senior Alex Pettee or freshman Dwight Macon to be the starting quarterback.

I've been asked this question more than any other this year – and I'm sure Page has heard it, too – “Is Austin Dantin UT's best option at QB?”

The simple answer is, yes. Not to take anything away from the rest of the team's quarterbacks, but the Rockets will only go as far as Dantin takes them this season. The coaching staff and his teammates have displayed a united front in support of Dantin. Now it's your turn, Rocket Nation.
