Rockets defeat Kent State

Amid the jubilation on the bus ride home following a landmark victory at Bowling Green on Wednesday, University of Toledo women's basketball coach Tricia Cullop stood up and gave her team a sobering reminder.

After the Rockets defeated their rival last season, they had a letdown in their next contest at Kent State.

Coincidentally enough, Toledo's next opponent after BGSU was again Kent State this season, and Cullop admonished her players not to make the same mistake twice.

Heeding their coach's advice, the Rockets jumped all over the Golden Flashes (15-5, 6-2 Mid-American Conference) at the outset of Saturday's contest, building a 22-point first-half advantage and rolling to a 66-53 victory in front of 4,519 on “Rockets for the Cure” day at Savage Arena.
