UT player allegedly hit girlfriend

University of Toledo football player Damien McIntosh has been charged with felonious assault stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend on Friday.

According to police, McIntosh, of 3711 Willow Run Dr., was a passenger in a car driven by Christina Tomusko and is accused of punching her in the face with a closed fist several times. Tomusko suffered nasal fractures, facial contusions, and minor head injuries, according to police.

McIntosh, a junior defensive end for UT, is being held in Lucas County jail on $25,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing June 2 at 9 a.m. in Toledo Municipal Court.

UT coach Tim Beckman told The Blade Tuesday that McIntosh has been “removed from the program permanently.”

“We maintain a high standard of personal conduct on our team and we expect our student-athletes to live up to that standard,” Beckman said.

McIntosh was convicted of drunken driving in February, 2010, following a traffic stop in Ottawa Hills when his blood alcohol level was measured at .162, more than twice the legal limit in Ohio.

McIntosh redshirted last season for UT after making four tackles in three games in 2009.

A native of Hamilton, Ohio, McIntosh was moved to tight end after the 2010 season and was listed as a sixth-string tight end on the most recent depth chart.
