Junior quarterback Austin Dantin will take the first snap behind center when the University of Toledo squares off against Syracuse (2-1) on Saturday, coach Tim Beckman announced Thursday evening.

Sophomore Terrance Owens, who has been competing with Dantin for the starting nod, will also see playing time. Beckman said Dantin will play the first two series against the Orange, followed by Owens for two series. After that, playing time will be decided on which quarterback is performing the best.

On the year, Dantin has completed 58.2 percent of his passes (32-of-55) and thrown for 366 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. He’s also rushed for a net 50 yards and lost a fumble.Owens is 34-of-60 passing (56.7 percent) for 460 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
