University of Toledo women's basketball coach Tricia Cullop has finalized her staff with the hiring of former Jacksonville University assistant Alex Stewart.

Stewart spent last season at Jacksonville after serving three years at her alma mater Georgia Tech as an academic coach and assistant director of basketball operations. Before then she was head coach at Agnes State College during the 2007-08 season after serving as assistant coach the two previous years. As head coach she led the team to a 17-9 record, the best mark in school history.

Stewart, a native of Norcross, Ga., was twice named All-Atlantic Coast Conference during her playing career at Georgia Tech (1999-2004).

She played professionally in Keflavik, Iceland, helping her team win the Icelandic Championship and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Stewart is the second assistant Cullop added this offseason, following former New Mexico assistant Vicki Hall. Stewart and Hall replace Nitra Perry, the new head coach at Kennesaw State, and Todd Mitmesser, who is moving to New York.
