Rockets make addition to men’s basketball staff

University of Toledo men's basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the addition of Michael Bennett to the staff as the program’s director of basketball operations. Bennett comes to Toledo following one year as the video coordinator for Ball State’s men’s basketball program.

Bennett has previously held coaching positions as an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Brebeuf Jesuit (2010-11) in Indianapolis, as an assistant varsity coach at Carmel High School (2009-10), and as an assistant varsity coach at Alexandria Monroe (2007-08), while also working outside of basketball in different capacities. He also served as BSU’s director of basketball operations during in 2005-06 .

Bennett played in 115 games during his Cardinal career, including 28 games as a senior in 2004-05. During his career, he was a two-time recipient of the Cardinals’ Shine Johnson Most Improved Player Award.

Football

The UT football team picked up a verbal commitment from Grand Blanc, Mich. defensive end Daniel Davis. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Davis chose the Rockets over Western Michigan, according to ESPN.com.

Davis is the 14th member of the class and the fourth defensive lineman. UT expects to sign 18 or 19 players.
