Toledo Rockets defeat Cincinnati Bearcats 29-23

Toledo has taken care of yet another BCS team that came into the Glass Bowl with a 29-23 win over Cincinnati.

The Bearcats entered Saturday's game ranked No. 21 and a perfect record on the year.

THIRD QUARTER

Toledo leads Cincinnati 26-20 heading into the fourth quarter.

The team's traded touchdowns within a span of seconds. The Bearcats went ahead 20-19 when Damon Julian hauled in a 25-yard pass in the end zone. Defensive backs Byron Best and Jermaine Robinson, standing in the end zone, were passive in their effort to attack the ball. Bernard Reedy returned the kickoff 91 yards for his third special teams TD in as many weeks.

Jeremiah Detmer made a 20-yard field goal, his fourth of the game, after Toledo couldn't score on three plays after reaching the 2.

HALFTIME

Toledo leads Cincinnati 16-13 at halftime.

Jeremiah Detmer made field goals of 42 and 47 yards in the second quarter and now has three tonight, all of 40 yards or more. Detmer has made eight in a row this year.

The Bearcats scored their only touchdown on a 2-yard run with 11:34 to go by quarterback Munchie Legaux. That play came after a 52-yard run by Ralph Abernathy. Cincinnati made field goals of 40 and 37 yards.

FIRST QUARTER

The University of Toledo leads Cincinnati 10-0 after the first quarter at the Glass Bowl.

After Jeremiah Detmer kicked a 43-yard field goal, the Rockets tacked on a touchdown when Jermaine Robinson intercepted a pass and returned it 75 yards. It was Robinson's second pick six of the season and the fourth of his career.

Toledo's offense was at UC's 29 when the quarter ended.
