BOISE --- Quarterback Terrance Owens entered the game in the fourth quarter but could not will the University of Toledo to a bowl win.
The Rockets never scored an offensive touchdown Saturday and fell to No. 18 Utah State, 41-15, in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Utah State's Kerwyn Williams rushed for three scores in the fourth quarter, on runs of 63, 56, and 25 yards, and Joe Hill added a 24-yard TD run. Williams had another 56-yard run in the quarter.
Toledo's Bernard Reedy returned a kickoff in the quarter 87 yards for his fourth special teams touchdown of the season.
THIRD QUARTER
Toledo's offense continues to sputter as it trails Utah State 13-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Austin Dantin was intercepted at USU's 8-yard line to nullify a chance to take the lead after the Rockets drove to the 15.
USU's Nick Diaz kicked a 44-yard field goal for the only points of the quarter.
For Toledo, linebacker Dan Molls (concussion) and running back David Fluellen (re-aggravated ankle injury) are out for the game. Quarterback Terrance Owens, who started 10 games in the regular season, has not played.
SECOND QUARTER
The University of Toledo defense gave up passing plays of 40 and 20 yards that led to a 27-yard field goal on the final play of the first half.
Utah State leads 10-6.
Jeremiah Detmer made his second 37-yard field goal in the half, increasing his streak of made attempts to 16.
FIRST QUARTER
With its two best players out with injuries, the University of Toledo trails Utah State 7-3 after the first quarter of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Linebacker Dan Molls injured his head on the opening kickoff and has not returned, and running back David Fluellen left the field at the end of the quarter with an apparent ankle injury.
USU quarterback Chuckie Keeton kept the ball on an option run and exploded for a 62-yard touchdown to put the Aggies in front 7-3.
UT took an early lead on Jeremiah Detmer's 37-yard field goal. It marked a school-record 22 field goals for Detmer, the last 15 of which have come in a row.
