UT men topple Kent State 70-58

The University of Toledo men's basketball team opened up Mid-American Conference play Wednesday with a huge road win, 70-58, at Kent State.

Rian Pearson scored 27 points to help snap Kent's win streak over MAC West opponents at 31.

Dominique Buckley added 13 points and Nathan Boothe had 10 for the Rockets, who improved to 5-7 overall.

Kent, which never led in the second half, was led by Chris Evans (20 points).

The Golden Flashes (9-6) cut the lead to 55-52 with an 11-2 run but never got that close again.
