YPSILANTI, Mich. — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team led from start to finish Wednesday in a 56-40 dismantling of Eastern Michigan.

Eleven different Rockets scored a point, and Andola Dortch had a team-high 14 points. Yolanda Richardson posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Toledo (14-2, 2-1) shot 45 percent from the field to EMU’s 33 percent. The Eagles were just 5 of 24 (20 percent) in the first half and trailed at the break 30-11.

The Rockets opened the game with a 15-2 run in the first seven minutes and never let the Eagles back within 15 points.

The Eagles outscored the Rockets in the second half, 29-26, but the first half was too much to overcome for EMU.

UT’s Janelle Reed-Lewis, who missed Sunday’s game at Bowling Green with an ankle injury, logged six minutes. The win marked a bid of redemption for the Rockets, who lost three times last year to Eastern Michigan, including by 21 points in Ypsilanti.

Natachia Watkins led EMU (3-13, 1-2) with 16 points and eight rebounds.
