In an expected move, the NCAA denied the University of Toledo's request to attain a fifth year of eligibility for football player T.J. Fatinikun.

Fatinkun, an injury-riddled defensive end from Perrysburg, is finished playing college football.

Fatinkun, who missed 15 games over his junior and senior season due to injury, did not meet the requirement to attain an additional year of eligibility because he participated in more than 30 percent of Toledo's games in either season.

Coaches and members of the athletic department were never optimistic about the appeal.
