Baumgartner leads Rockets with 17 points as UT tops Miami for season’s 20th win

OXFORD, Ohio — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team secured 20 wins for the fourth year in a row Wednesday in an 80-49 thrashing of Miami.

The Rockets (20-2, 8-1 Mid-American Conference) finished the first half on a 24-2 run and led 41-19 at the break. Kyle Baumgartner came off the bench to lead Toledo with 17 points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes. Andola Dortch chipped in 15 points and recorded eight steals. Lecretia Smith and Inma Zanoguera added 10 points a piece.

Yolanda Richardson had 10 rebounds, and Toledo made 10 3-pointers.

Naama Shafir hit a jumper to break a 17-17 tie before Baumgartner drained back-to-back 3s, the second one giving the Rockets an eight-point lead with 5 minutes, 10 seconds to go.

Courtney Osborn led Miami (14-8, 6-3) with 21 points.
