CLEVELAND — University of Toledo's bid to win the Mid-American Conference women's basketball tournament title ended today in a 66-61 loss to Central Michigan in the semifinals at Quicken Loans Arena.
The top-seed Rockets (27-3) scored the first basket of the game and never led again, falling for the second time this year to the Chippewas (20-11).
Inma Zanoguera (16 points), Naama Shafir (15), and Yolanda Richardson (13) scored in double figures for the Rockets, who cut the deficit to one with 34 seconds to go.
Shafir's 3-pointer to tie the game with seven seconds to go was blocked, effectively ending UT's short-lived stay in the tournament.
CMU, which advances to Saturday's final to play Ball State or Akron, received 20 points from Crystal Bradford.
