UT women’s teamgets transfer from UM
5/21/2013The University of Toledo women's basketball team has acquired a guard via transfer.
Brenae Harris, who played her first two seasons at the Michigan, will have two years of eligibility left after sitting out the upcoming season.
Harris of Marion, Ohio, averaged 2.5 points in 53 career games with the Wolverines. The 5-foot-10 Harris averaged 12 minutes and 2.8 points last season and 8.7 minutes and 2.0 points as a freshman.
Harris averaged 21.9 points as a senior at Marion Harding.
Harris is Toledo's sixth player acquisition since the fall. The Rockets have one scholarship still available.
■ LAWRENCE, Kan. — Memphis forward Tarik Black is transferring to Kansas and will be eligible to play immediately.
Black has graduated from Memphis and has one year of eligibility left.
Last season, Black started five of 32 games played for Memphis and averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds.
Black was a major recruit when he landed at Memphis out of high school, and while he's been solid, he never blossomed into a star. For his career, he has averaged 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds and made 60 starts.
Kansas has also landed one of the top recruiting classes in the nation, which includes highly touted guard Andrew Wiggins, rated by many analysts as the No. 1 recruit in the country.
■ MINNEAPOLIS — Guard Malik Smith has signed his tender to transfer from Florida International to Minnesota.
Smith is following coach Richard Pitino to the Golden Gophers. He averaged 14.1 points per game as a junior starter for FIU last season. He will be eligible to play right away because FIU will be banned from postseason play next season thanks to poor academic performance under previous coach Isiah Thomas.

WASHINGTON — The Military Bowl is moving this season from RFK Stadium in Washington to Navy-Marine Corp Stadium in Annapolis, Md.
The bowl will match a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference against one from Conference USA and will be played Dec. 27.
The bowl has been at RFK since its inception in 2008, and the switch is only for this upcoming season. But Annapolis is likely to become the permanent home, with bowl organizers negotiating contracts with conference partners for 2014 and beyond.
