The University of Toledo has been named the winner of the 2012-13 Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award. For the academic year, UT's 358 student-athletes posted an overall athletic grade point average of 3.200. It is the second straight year that the Rockets have won the award.

Western Michigan was second with a 3.158 GPA and Miami third with a 3.139 GPA. The GPA of other MAC schools, including Bowling Green State University, was not released by the conference.

"We are very proud that our student-athletes received the MAC Institutional Academic Award for the second consecutive year," said UT athletic director Mike O'Brien. "Earning this honor in each of the last two years is an indication of the consistent determination of our student-athletes to excel in the classroom. This honor is also shared by the coaches, classroom instructors and the Student Athletic Academic Services staff who all work so hard in mentoring and nurturing our student-athletes."

The MAC Institutional Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to the conference institution which achieves the highest overall institutional GPA for student-athletes competing in institutionally sponsored sports for the academic year.
