One of the top battles in University of Toledo's fall camp is over by default.

Redshirt freshman Jaylen Coleman, who was competing to start at middle linebacker, suffered a knee injury this week and will miss an "extended period" of time, Rockets coach Matt Campbell said today.

Coleman, who will undergo surgery Friday, could be out for the season. His injury is not to the ACL, Campbell said.

Sophomore Chase Murdock is expected to win the battle at middle linebacker.
