The University of Toledo’s men’s basketball team is on an 11-day trip to Greece. Justin Drummond, a junior guard, will provide daily updates of the team’s experience.

We left Loutraki just before noon today and stopped at a mall in an Athens suburb for lunch. It was very comparable to an upper-class American style mall with four levels and a lot of the same stores we have in the U.S. I didn’t have time to do much shopping, but I did eat another gyro. I’m eating those like crazy. They’re the best tasting ones I’ve ever had, and the ones we have in the states aren’t close to these.

Next we headed to the harbor in Rafina for our ferry ride to go the Island of Mykonos. I was surprised how far the island was from Athens and how fast we went. We made it in a little over two hours. A couple of our guys got sick, but I felt fine and just enjoyed the ride.

Seeing the villas overlook the port was interesting. It was definitely different from what we saw our first three days here. We didn’t get to our hotel until around 7:00 p.m.

We had a nice dinner at the hotel, which is right by the waterfront. This time I tried some spaghetti with a white sauce. It was different, but it was good.

Tomorrow we’re going to spend time on the beach, and I’m looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the water.
