Rockets fall to Western Michigan in 2nd consecutive loss

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The University of Toledo basketball team opened Mid-American Conference play tonight with its seventh consecutive road loss to Western Michigan, this time by a count of 87-76.

The Rockets (12-2) have lost 11 of 12 at University Arena.

Toledo, picked to win the West division, played badly in the first half, going down by as many as 22 points.

The Rockets cut the deficit to four with under five minutes to play but could not dig further.

Connar Tava led WMU (8-5) with 25 points on 9 of 9 shooting.

Justin Drummond had 18 points for Toledo, which has lost two in a row after a 12-0 start.
