Rockets string of wins vs. MAC East snapped

AMHERST, N.Y. — The University of Toledo dropped a 51-46 decision Wednesday at Buffalo in Mid-American Conference women’s basketball game.

The Bulls ended the contest with a 9-2 run to snap UT’s 20-game win streak against MAC East Division opponents, dating back to Feb. 3, 2010.

Senior Janelle Reed-Lewis led UT with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Sophomore Ana Capotosto added nine points and 11 rebounds, while senior Andola Dortch and junior Inma Zanoguera had eight points each. Zanoguera added 16 rebounds.

The Rockets (7-8, 2-2 MAC) were held to a season-low 26 percent (19 of 74) from the field, including 29 percent (5 of 17) from 3-point range.

Mackenzie Loesing paced the Bulls (8-7, 1-3) with a 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

With Toledo leading 44-42, UB knotted the score on a layup by Baccas with 1:48 left.

The Rockets misfired on five attempts before Buffalo recaptured the lead for good on a block and a coast-to-coast layup from Malone with 46 seconds left.

The Rockets travel Saturday to Western Michigan.
