The most prolific scorer in Bowling Green State University men’s basketball history is switching sides in the Battle of I-75.

Anthony Stacey has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Toledo.

A Rockets nemesis as the Mid-American Conference player of the year in 2000, he fills the vacancy left by the recent departure of Jordan Mincy for a similar position at Louisiana Tech.

Stacey was set to become the boys basketball coach at Sandusky High School after being hired in April.

He spent the last three seasons at Medina, where he led the northeast Ohio high school to a 41-33 overall record. In his first year, the Bees advanced to the regional final before losing to Whitmer. (The game has since been vacated after the Ohio High School Athletic Association ruled Whitmer guard LeRoy Alexander was ineligible.) Medina went 19-7 last season.

A 2012 inductee into BG’s hall of fame, Stacey ranks first in Falcons’ history with 1,938 points and 241 steals. He played professionally in Spain for nine-plus seasons.
