Storm to introduce new coach

7/14/2003

The Storm has scheduled a news conference for 11:30 a.m. today at the Oliver House at which time it's expected that the club will introduce its new coach.

As reported in The Blade on Saturday, Steve Harrison, a former Toledo Goaldiggers' defenseman who has spent the last six seasons in the Ontario (junior) Hockey League as an assistant coach, will be the new head coach in Toledo. Several sources in professional and Canadian major junior hockey have confirmed Harrison's selection.

Harrison, 45, replaces Claude Noel, who in one season behind the bench led the Storm to the East Coast Hockey League's regular season championship with a record of 47-15-10. After his team was eliminated by Cincinnati in the Northwest Division finals of the Kelly Cup playoffs, Noel was promoted to a similar position with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
