SPECIAL TO THE BLADE

CINCINNATI - Nick Parillo scored twice and Alexandre Jacques had a goal and two assists as the Toledo Storm defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-1 last night.

Toledo goaltender Doug Teskey came within 38 seconds of his second shutout of the season, but Josh Harrold scored for Cincinnati.

Teskey had 22 saves.

Coach Nick Vitucci was pleased with Teskey s performance.

“He was solid,” Vitucci said. “He d been off the ice for a while, five days last weekend with the passing of his grandmother, but it didn t look like he missed a beat.”

Parillo scored two even-strength goals in the first period, both on assists from Jacques.

Jacques got his goal, unassisted, in the second period.

“All three lines played very well,” Vitucci said, “but [Parillo and Jacques] were rewarded more often than everyone else. Their speed and skill creates a lot of scoring opportunities.”

Toledo outshot Cincinnati 34-23.

Cincinnati goaltender Randy Masters had 31 saves.

The Storm plays at Dayton tonight at 7:30, then returns home for a 3 p.m. game tomorrow against Peoria.
