Storm, Predators end affiliation
8/7/2004The Nashville Predators of the NHL and the Toledo Storm will not be renewing their affiliation agreement for the 2004-05 season, according to Storm vice president and general manager Mike Miller.
"Through numerous phone conversations with Nashville Predators assistant general manager Ray Shero and myself, we decided that due to the labor uncertainty at the NHL level, that litigating a new contract did not work for both parties," Miller said. "With that friction between the NHL and NHLPA [players association] there will not be an abundance of Double-A hockey players signed and available for the upcoming season. Communication between the Toledo Storm and the Nashville Predators will continue throughout the year in the event that there would be a need for the Predators to place players in Toledo."
In a separate move, Toledo today sent the rights to goaltender Cory Campbell to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL. This finalizes a prior deal between the two clubs
