Storm's Mallette called up to AHL

Toledo Storm center Carl Mallette, who is leading the ECHL in scoring, has been called up by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Mallette, ECHL player of the week March 7-13, has collected 12 points (six goals, six assists) in his six games since arriving in Toledo on March 8 in a trade with Greenville.

He has 30 goals and 47 assists this season.

Mallette scored his first professional hat trick on March 12 against Peoria.

He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Earlier this season, Mallette was recalled to the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the AHL, but did not register a point in three games.

Hershey was at home last night against Portland, plays at Rochester tomorrow, and is back home Saturday and Sunday against Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre, respectively.

Toledo will return home tomorrow night against the Dayton Bombers, then plays in Dayton on Saturday.
