MacIntyre leads the way in setting a stingy record
4/15/2006The 2005-06 version of the Toledo Storm was the stingiest in the 15-year history of the organization. The team set a franchise record for fewest goals allowed in the regular season this year.
Toledo yielded just 189 goals for an average of 2.63 a game. The old record was established by last season s team which gave up 194 goals.
Goalie Drew MacIntyre had plenty to do with establishing the new mark. MacIntyre set franchise records for goals-against average (2.06) and save percentage (.926). He was named EHCL goaltender of the month in March and was also named the goalie of the week once this season. He entered the playoffs having won eight straight games with a goals-against average of 1.48 and a .942 save percentage.
He s definitely the best goalie in the league, said forward Ken Magowan. He s come up huge for us.

ROSTER MOVES: Forward Robert Snowball and defenseman Jason Maleyko were activated off the injured reserve list yesterday.
Defenseman Mat Ponto also was activated for the playoffs. But Ponto and fellow defenseman Tim Songin were healthy scratches for last night s game.
STORM PRODUCERS: Four different Toledo players have scored 12 points or more in 12 games against the Chiefs this season.
Bracken Kearns tallied 16 points with eight goals and eight assists.
Ken Magowan collected 13 points in 11 games against Johnstown with six goals and seven assists. Scooter Smith and Chris Blight have both notched seven goals and handed out five assists in the season series.
SEASON SELLOUTS: The Toledo Storm had two sellouts this year. Capacity crowds filled thwe Sports Arena for the first and last games of the season.
It was the third straight season that the season opener was sold out. Overall, the organization increased its attendance by more than nine percent to 3,970 per game this year.
