The Toledo Storm fell behind early against the Trenton Titans yesterday, but battled back to force overtime only to lose in a shootout, 4-3.

The Storm (10-6-1) trailed 3-1 heading into the final period of regulation, but forced overtime with a pair of third period goals.

Trenton (10-5-1) grabbed the lead at 2:54 of the opening period when Benoit Mondou scored his first of two unassisted goals. His second came at 11:14 when Mondou put a wrist shot past Stefan Liv for his 5th goal of the season. Toledo would close the gap late in the second period when Nick Parillo attempted a pass that deflected off defenseman Bryan Miller right back to Parillo, who tucked it into an empty net.

Toledo responded in the second period in which it outshot Trenton 13-9. The Titans collected the only goal of the second period. While Toledo was on the power play, Scott Bertoli intercepted a pass and fed Mike Pandolfo, who shot past Liv to give the Titans a 3-1 lead. The shorthanded goal was the first one allowed by Toledo this season.

Toledo battled back as Matt Zultek put a shot past Greg Naumenko at the 7:26 mark to pull the Storm within one. Jeff Attard tied the game when he knocked home a rebound at 14:49 of the third.

After a scoreless OT period, the Storm took part in its third shootout of the season. Chris Blight and Nick Parillo tallied for Toledo, but the Titans were able to put three shots past Stefan Liv to earn the extra point, winning 4-3.
