Former Notre Dame standout goalie Jordan Pearce will be in the Toledo Walleye's training camp this weekend when the team holds its first preseason contests.

Pearce, 22, led the Irish to a Central Collegiate Hockey Association title last season. He was a finalist for the CCHA player of the year after posting a 30-6-3 record with eight shutouts. Pearce had a 1.68 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.

The Detroit Red Wings assigned Pearce to Toledo from Grand Rapids because the Griffins have two other goalies. Pearce, a native of Anchorage, made his American Hockey League debut with Grand Rapids in the 2008-09 regular season finale, stopping 33 shots.

Toledo also received four players from its AHL affiliate in Rockford, Ill. Right wing Dan Bertram and centers Adam Hobson and Maxime Tanguay and goalie Alec Richards were reassigned by the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Walleye also released the following players from its roster: Rick Smith, Brendan Mclaughlin, Matt Larke, Nick Schneider, Blake Miller, John Petrous, C.J. Schneider, Frankie DeAngelis, Henri St.Arnault, Jake Coyle and Paul D'Agostino.

The Walleye will play four preseason games this week. Toledo plays at Dayton tonight and at Cincinnati tomorrow night. The team then hosts Cincinnati at Tam-O-Shanter in Sylvania at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Port Huron at Team Toledo Ice House at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
