WHEELING, W. Va. — The Toledo Walleye took a 2-1 lead midway in the second period in their East Coast Hockey League match with Wheeling yesterday, but the Nailers did all of the game's scoring the rest of the way for a 5-2 victory.

The two teams put 17 shots on goal combined in the first period, but neither team could dent the scoreboard. Alec Richards stopped 11 shots and Adam Berkhoel denied Toledo's 6 shots in the first period.

The scoring drought ended in the second period with Wheeling scoring first. At 5:25 of the second, Jordan Morrison collected a loose puck between the circles and wristed a shot past Richards for a 1-0 lead. Toledo would tie the game at 7:34 when Sal Peralta stole the puck at the Wheeling blue line. Peralta feed a pass to the right circle for Chris Robertson who fired a shot that Akim Aliu tipped past Berkhoel for his fourth goal of the year.
