CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Walleye twice led the game by one, but the Stingrays' goal in the third period Sunday sent Toledo to a 3-2 loss in South Carolina, dropping Toledo to 6-10-1-1 on the season and 4-5-1-0 on the road.

Toledo struck first when Joe Charlebois scored his first goal of the season at 2:32 of the first period. His wrist shot from the blue line slipped through the pads of South Carolina goaltender Jared DeMichiel.

The Stingrays collected a goal at 9:20 of the first when David De Kastrozza beat Scott Campbell with a wrist shot on a power play.

“As we expected, South Carolina came out with a lot of fire after losing three in a row,” coach Nick Vitucci said. “We dominated much of the play in the second period today, but just couldn't regain the lead in the third when we needed to.”

Toledo took the lead at 11:58 of the second when Mike Hedden stuffed in a rebound for his third goal of the season. Tyler Gotto started the play by carrying the puck into the Stingrays' zone; his shot was deflected by Evan Rankin in front before being finished by Hedden.

The Stingrays tied the game at 17:50 when Rob Ricci beat Campbell with a wrist shot while shorthanded.

The Stingrays took their first lead of the game at 13:56 of the third when Matt Scherer beat Campbell on a rebound.

Toledo finished the game 0-6 on the power play.
