TRENTON, N.J. — Toledo forward Tyler Doig scored 3:27 into overtime to propel the Walleye to a 7-6 win over Trenton Saturday night.

The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Walleye who are now 14-18-3.

Doig scored twice, including a goal that gave Toledo a 6-5 lead with 4:20 left in the game. But Trenton, which outshot Toledo 48-24, scored to tie it with 2:09 left in regulation.

Sal Peralta, Randy Rowe, Zack Torquato, Chris DiDomenico, and Josh Boyd also scored for Toledo. Goalie Joe Palmer (5-9-0) finished with 42 saves.

Toledo led 1-0 after one period and 4-2 after two. DiDomenico and Boyd scored their first goals this season.

"It was important that we came out and played solid, smart hockey tonight," coach Nick Vitucci.

Toledo travels to Elmira for a 4 p.m. game Sunday.

McCollum to Wings

Goaltender Thomas McCollum, who played in five games for Toledo, has become the first Walleye player ever called up to the NHL.

McCollum was recalled to the Detroit Red Wings Saturday. McCollum posted a 3-1-0 record for Toledo with a 2.55 goals-against average.

He will back up former Toledo Storm goaltender Joey MacDonald. McCollum, a former first round pick of the Red Wings, is heading to Detroit because of injuries to goalies Chris Osgood and Jimmy Howard.
