CINCINNATI — Cincinnati scored three times in the first period and beat Toledo 5-1 Friday night. Toledo is 23-22-3-1 on the season and 12-10-2-0 on the road.

Cincinnati started the game off with all the momentum, outscoring the Walleye 3-0 in the first. The Cyclones outshot the Walleye 20-3 in that period. The three shots for Toledo was a season low for the Walleye.

"We came out with absolutely no jump or energy tonight," coach Nick Vitucci said. "Joe Palmer kept us in reach, but the Cyclones were too much tonight. You can't dig a hole like we did tonight and hope to come away with a win against a good team like Cincinnati."

The Cyclones collected the only goal in the second period. After Cincinnati made it 5-0, Toledo got its lone goal at 15:45 of the third period. Dominic Osman won a faceoff in the Cincinnati zone right to Willie Coetzee, whose one-timer beat Brian Foster for Willie's sixth goal of the year.

FISH TALES: Palmer made 37 saves for the Walleye and is 9-11-1-0 on the season. ... The loss snapped Toledo's six-game road winning streak.
