TRENTON, N.J. -- The Toledo Walleye picked up one point Friday night as they continue to search for a spot in the ECHL playoffs, losing 3-2 in an overtime shootout at the Sun National Bank Center.

The Devils scored three times in the shootout to pick up the extra point while rookie Andy Bohmbach scored the lone shootout goal for the Walleye (28-27-5).

Toledo led 2-1 into the final minute of regulation after a scoreless first two periods, but the Devils' Matt Lombardi scored with 26 seconds remaining -- his second of the night -- after Trenton (22-33-7) pulled its goaltender for an extra attacker.

"I thought we outplayed Trenton for 65 minutes, just sometimes you don't get the win," said coach Nick Vitucci.

Trenton's Ryan Hayes, Lombardi, and Trevor Kell all scored in the shootout on Walleye goalie Thomas McCollum, who finished with 33 saves, as Toledo outshot the Devils, 35-28.

Trenton struck first as Lombardi scored 2:29 into the third period to break a scoreless tie.

The Walleye scored the next two goals 90 seconds apart to take the lead, getting goals from Chris DiDomenico (his ninth) and Evan Rankin (17th). Toledo continues its road swing as it takes on Reading tonight at 7 p.m.

NOTES: Toledo released D Jay Holladay. ... The Walleye traded the rights to G Jimmy Spratt to Victoria for future considerations. Spratt is currently on loan with Grand Rapids in the AHL.
