Walleye to let fans select their seats

The Toledo Walleye will hold a select-a-seat event in conjunction with the organization's two-day free agent camp this weekend at the Huntington Center.

Single game tickets will go on sale beginning this Saturday at 9 a.m. The team will hold its third annual free agent camp on Saturday and Sunday at the Huntington Center.

A total of 72 players have been invited to the training camp.

Attendees at the select-a-seat event can watch the practices and scrimmages. Single-game tickets for all 36 home games will be made available throughout the weekend.

The select-a-seat event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets for Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 15 will be priced at $17. Tickets for the remaining 35 contests will be priced at $15, while they will be $13 for kids 12 and under and seniors 65 and over.

The organization also announced its promotional events for the season.

A post-game skate with the players will be held after every Sunday home game. A post-game party with the players also will take place after every Friday home game.

MIAMI -- NCAA investigators visited the University of Miami campus to look into claims that more than a dozen former or current football players received gifts and services from convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro, his attorney said. Shapiro has told the NCAA he provided players with the use of a yacht and other favors, said his attorney, Maria Elena Perez.

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia -- San Antonio Spurs forward Danny Green signed with Slovenian basketball league champion Union Olimpija.

The 24-year-old Green will be reunited with former college teammate Deon Thompson. The two helped North Carolina win the 2009 NCAA title.

Tennis

Serena Williams soared from No. 80 to No. 31 in the WTA rankings following her victory in the Rogers Cup.

Caroline Wozniacki is No. 1 in the rankings, followed by Vera Zvonareva, Kim Clijsters, Victoria Azarenka and Li Na. Zvonareva advanced one spot.

The top five men held their rankings: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Robin Soderling.
