Walleye pick up win on Wings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Walleye had some new blood in the lineup in their 5-4 win against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday at Wings Stadium.

It was familiar faces that led the Walleye (18-22-4) to victory though as David Gilbert notched two goals while Paul Zanette added a goal and three assists.

Forward Mike Thomas -- assigned to Toledo from Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday -- had a goal in the win while recent newcomer Todd Griffith added a goal and an assist.

Dustin Carlson made 33 saves for the win.

Darryl Bootland scored twice and added an assist in the loss for first place Kalamazoo (24-15-5).

Goalie Jordan Pearce was assigned to Toledo late Thursday but was recalled by Grand Rapids on Friday due to the injury to Detroit's Jimmy Howard.

Also, the Walleye's Harrison Reed signed a tryout contract with the AHL's Houston Aeros.
