Pearce reassigned to Walleye from Grand Rapids

Goaltender Jordan Pearce was reassigned to the Walleye from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League on Tuesday afternoon.

Pearce, 25, started his pro career in Toledo during the Walleye's inaugural season in 2009-10. He also played in eight games for Toledo last season.

Overall, Pearce has appeared in 45 games with the Walleye from 2009-11. He has an 18-22-1 record with a 3.72 goals against average and three shutouts.

Pearce has not appeared in a game this season for Toledo. In 17 games with the Griffins, he has posted a 3-7-1 record with a 3.53 goals against average and one shutout.

The Anchorage, Alaska native ranks among Grand Rapids' all-time goaltending leaders with 67 games played (ninth), 24 wins (10th) and 1,629 saves (eighth).

Pearce joins goalie Alec Richards in Toledo. The goalies split time in net for the Walleye in 2009-10 when the team went 35-30-7 and qualified for the playoffs.

Richards has played in six games since being reassigned to Toledo from Rockford of the AHL on Feb. 5. Richards is 5-1-0 with a 2.65 GAA with the Walleye this season.

Toledo (23-24-4), which is six points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, has 21 games left.

The Walleye play four games in the next five days beginning Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Kalamazoo. The team will play three games this weekend at the Huntington Center.
