Walleye to host exhibition games

A day full of hockey hosted by the Toledo Walleye will be held at the Huntington Center on Oct. 6, the team announced today.

The event will be capped by two minor league exhibition games. The Walleye will play the Kalamazoo Wings at 9 p.m.

The Walleye will practice at 10 a.m. to start the event. Four consecutive youth hockey games, featuring local teams, will follow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two American Hockey League teams, the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Lake Erie Monsters, will play at 6 p.m.

Tickets to all of the games are $5 for general admission seats. All proceeds benefit the team’s charitable fund — Walleye Wishing Well.

The Walleye open the regular season the following Saturday at the Huntington Center against Kalamazoo on Oct. 13.
