The Walleye will play two preseason, exhibition games this weekend with a home-and-home series against Kalamazoo.

Toledo travels to Kalamazoo for a game today at 7:30 p.m. The teams meet again on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Huntington Center.

The game on Saturday is part of a day full of hockey at the downtown arena.

The event features a game between two American Hockey League teams. The Grand Rapids Griffins play the Lake Erie Monsters at 6 p.m. The Griffins are the Walleye's AHL affiliate.

The Walleye will play the rival Kalamazoo Wings after the AHL contest.

The Walleye will practice at 10 a.m. to start the event. Four consecutive youth hockey games, featuring local teams, will follow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets to all of the games are $5 for general admission seats. All proceeds benefit the Toledo Walleye charitable fund — Walleye Wishing Well.

Training camp opened on Wednesday for the Walleye.

The Walleye open the regular season the following Saturday at the Huntington Center against Kalamazoo. It is just one of two regular-season home games in the month of October.
