Walleye fall 8-5 to Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Toledo scored five times on the road and led by two goals in the second period tonight, but the Walleye went on to lose 8-5 to Evansville.

Toledo led 4-2 in the second period but the IceMen then scored five unanswered goals. Evansville scored three goals in a span of 45 seconds to take the lead for good.

Rookie goalie Kent Simpson gave up six goals before being replaced by Jordan Pearce, who yielded two more goals.

Joey Martin had two goals and an assist for Toledo which now is 13-9-1 overall and 7-4-1 on the road this season.

Wes O'Neill, Willie Coetzee, and Luke Glendening also scored for the Walleye. Coetzee also had an assist.

Toledo outshot Evansville 36-35.

The Walleye play at Kalamazoo Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
