KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Walleye lost for the second straight night on the road as they gave up three quick goals in the second period and their rally then fell short tonight.

Kalamazoo scored three goals over the first 7:09 of the second period to seize a 4-1 lead and the Wings held on to post a 4-3 win.

Toledo defenseman Wes O’Neill cut the lead to two with a power play goal late in the second period. Forward Luke Glendening then made it 4-3 midway through the third period.

The Walleye fell behind 1-0 early before Willie Coetzee notched his 10th goal of the season late in the first.

Coetzee collected his team-high 21st point of the season for Toledo (13-10-1), while Glendening scored his team-leading 14th goal.

With the game tied at 1 after one period, two of the Wings’ three quick goals came on the power play.

“You are playing with fire putting this team on the power play and we were burnt by that tonight,” Walleye coach Nick Vitucci said.

Kalamazoo’s Nick Sirota scored back-to-back goals less than four minutes apart.

Goalie Jordan Pearce (6-3-0) finished with 18 saves.

The Walleye return home Wednesday to host Wheeling at 7 p.m.
