Walleye top Everblades for 3rd consecutive win

The Walleye won their third consecutive game today as they knocked off the Florida Everblades 4-2.

Max Campbell scored the game winner with 12:14 left. Toledo held one-goal leads in each of the first two periods, but Florida tied it back up both times.

Joey Martin, Terry Broadhurst, and Willie Coetzee also scored for Toledo (16-10-1), which increased its first-place lead in the ECHL North Division to three points.

Walleye goalie Jordan Pearce made two solid saves over the first four minutes of the third period to keep it tied. He finished with 18 stops.

Campbell simply put a shot on net and somehow it got by Florida goalie John Muse to the delight of an announced crowd of 5,008 at the Huntington Center.

Coetzee added an insurance goal with 7:08 left.

The Walleye scored first on a beautiful passing play from Coetzee to Kyle Rogers who tapped it up to Martin, who put it in to make it 1-0 with 12:21 left in first.

In the second period, Broadhurst scored on assists from Luke Glendening and Andrej Nestrasil, who is on an eight game scoring streak.

The Walleye have now won five in a row at home as they outshot the the defending ECHL champs 34-20.

The Walleye don't return home until Dec. 28. They have three straight road games beginning at Greenville on Friday.
