GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Walleye could not protect a third-period lead and then their late rally was erased tonight as they fell 4-3 to Greenville.

Toledo grabbed a 2-0 edge just 3:51 into the game.

But Greenville tallied three goals in the third period, including the game-winner with 2:47 remaining in regulation.

Randy Rowe scored his eighth goal of the year to give Toledo a 1-0 lead just 1:35 into the game. The Walleye then went up 2-0 on Doug Clarkson's first goal as a professional just moments later.

The Road Warriors scored late in the first and then opened the final period with two goals over the first 6:22 to seize a 3-2 lead.

But Toledo would tie the game when Terry Broadhurst scored on a breakaway at 14:24 of the third period. Forward Brandon Svendsen, a former Bowling Green State University forward, assisted on the goal in his first game with the Walleye.

But Greenville then beat Toledo goaltender Kent Simpson in the waning moments. Simpson made 25 saves and now has a 6-7-0 record.

Toledo fell to 16-11-1 and is now 7-6-1 on the road. The teams meet again tonight in Greenville.
