GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Walleye could not protect a third-period lead and a late rally was erased Friday night as they fell 4-3 to Greenville.

Greenville tallied three goals in the third period, including the game-winner with 2:47 remaining.

Randy Rowe scored to give Toledo (16-11-1) a 1-0 lead 1:35 in and Doug Clarkson's first goal as a pro made it 2-0 less than three minutes later.

The Road Warriors scored late in the first and opened the final period with two goals over the first 6:22.

Toledo tied it as Terry Broadhurst scored on a breakaway at 14:24 of the third period. Forward Brandon Svendsen, a former Bowling Green State University forward, assisted on the goal in his first game.

Toledo goaltender Kent Simpson made 25 saves.
