Clay High School senior captains Anthony Csizek and Jake Richard participated in the fourth annual Holiday HockeyFest to support a former teammate at the Huntington Center.

The two-day charitable event was established to support former Clay player Kyle Cannon, who was paralyzed after being hit in a game in 2008 as a freshman.

“We've been through a lot over here,” Richards said. “No other teams have gone through anything like this. It's really important that we continue it. It means so much to the families.”

The event features local youth and high school hockey teams and has been expanded to two days. It continues today at 10:30 a.m.

Lake plays Springfield at noon, followed by Eastwood and Perrysburg at 1:30 p.m. Club teams from Toledo and Eastern Michigan play at 3.

A portion of the tickets sales will go to the KC3 Trust fund.

“It means a lot because the whole hockey community comes together after a horrible accident,” Csizek said. “It means everyone is still here to support us and Kyle through everything that has happened.”
