Walleye Parkes, Pearce heading to Grand Rapids

The Detroit Red Wings have assigned Walleyes players forward Trevor Parkes and goaltender Jordan Pearce to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Parkes saw his first action in Toledo over last weekend. The 21-year-old forward collected two goals and two assists in three games with the Walleye.

Pearce started Sunday’s game against Evansville, allowing one goal in a 4-1 win. The Anchorage, Alaska native has a 12-7-0-1 record this season with the Walleye while posting a team best 2.48 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. The 26 year old has also picked up two shootouts this season and has five total in his Walleye career.

The Walleye are on the road Thursday to meet Cincinnati before returning home to host the Elmira Jackals on Friday.
