Toledo Walleye add 2 defenseman, lose a forward

The Walleye added two defensemen and lost a forward in roster moves today.

Defenseman Gleason Fournier was assigned to Toledo from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. Forward Byron Froese was called up to Rockford of the AHL, while defenseman Ben Youds was assigned to the Walleye from Rockford.

Youds led ECHL defensemen in scoring when he was recalled to Rockford on Jan. 9. The native of Maple Grove, Minn. collected 27 points (4 goals, 23 assist) in 33 games this season with Toledo. In 22 games this year with the IceHogs, the 24-year-old has one goal and eight assists.

Fournier has appeared in 21 games this season with the Griffins, scoring once with three assists. The 21-year-old defenseman has also skated in 10 games this season and does not have a point. In 55 games last year with the Walleye, the Rimouski, Quebec native had two goals and 16 assists.

Froese is currently fifth in scoring on the Walleye with 12 goals and 21 assists. The Winkler, Manitoba native appeared in 57 games last year with the IceHogs, scoring four goals with six assists.

The Walleye host Greenville Wednesday night at the Huntington Center.
