Toledo Walleye suffer 4-2 loss at Orlando Sun Bears

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Walleye wrapped a three-game road trip to Florida with a 4-2 loss to the Orlando Solar Bears tonight.

With the game tied at 2, Orlando's C.J. Severyn scored the game winner on a power play goal 3:51 into the third period. The Solar Bears then added some cushion late in the final period.

Toledo was outshot 36-25. Walleye goalie Mac Carruth made 32 saves, while Orlando goalie Chirstopher Gibson made 23 stops.

Each team scored two goals in the first period.

Walleye forward Alden Hirschfeld scored for the second straight game.

Toledo's Marek Tvrdon scored a power play goal midway through the first period to tie the game at 1. After the Solar Bears regained a one-goal led, Hirschfeld tied it at 2 with 2:24 left in the opening period.

Kyle Rogers, Martin Frk, and Jason Lepine had assists for the Walleye.

Toledo was outshot badly (14-3) in the second period but neither team scored.

Orlando went 1 of 6 on the power play, while Toledo was 1 of 3. The Walleye came into the game ranked first on the power play on the road at 25 percent (7 for 28).

Toledo (4-5-1) went 1-2-0 on the road trip, falling two straight nights to the Solar Bears (6-4-1).

The Walleye lost 6-3 to Orlando on Sunday after defeating Florida 4-3 in overtime on Saturday.

Toledo plays at Fort Wayne on Friday before returning home on Sunday for a game against Reading.
