Furious Walleye rally falls short in loss at Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Toledo Walleye overcame a three-goal deficit to force overtime, but fell in the extra session to host Fort Wayne in a 5-4 loss.

Mike Vaskivuo scored 1:09 into overtime for the Komets (4-4-2) to complete a three-point night for the forward.

Toledo trailed 3-0 in the second before rallying with two in the period from Daniel Koger with his first goal in a Walleye uniform along with Trevor Parkes’ seventh of the season.

Marek Tvrdon’s fourth of the season tied the game at 3-all 26 seconds into the third period, but Fort Wayne snatched the lead back about three minutes later.

Kyle Rogers evened the game again with 57 seconds left in regulation.

Jared Coreau finished with 37 saves.
