Walleye add Canadian-college forward Abercrombie to mix
2/28/2014The Toledo Walleye signed forward Matt Abercrombie to a contract on Thursday.
Abercrombie, a native of Sarnia, Ont., just completed his Canadian college career at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ont.
Abercrombie collected 35 points (18 goals and 17 assists) in 28 games this past regular season.
He was tied for third in goals in the Ontario University Athletics during the regular season.
He scored three goals and added two assists in three OUA playoffs games this season for the Badgers.
In four seasons at Brock, the 24-year-old appeared in 111 games. The 6-foot-1 and 184-pound forward produced 115 points (60 G, 55 A).
The Walleye begin a five-game homestand this weekend. Toledo (16-31-4) hosts Greenville on Saturday and Sunday.
