Walleye fall to Wheeling 4-0

WHEELING, W. Va. - The Walleye gave up three goals in the second period and went on to lose 4-0 to Wheeling tonight.

Toledo went 0 of 7 on the power play. Wheeling goalie Mike Condon finished with 34 saves to get the shutout.

The Walleye finished with a 34-32 edge in shots.

Max MacKay, Shane Baker, and Christiann Minella scored in the second period for Wheeling (36-25-6). Tyler Fernandez then scored with 19 seconds left.

Walleye goalie Hannu Toivonen finished with 29 saves.

Condon had nine saves in the first period and nine more in the second before stopping 16 Toledo shots in the third period.

Max Shalunov and Richard Nedomlel each had five shots for the Walleye.

Toledo (21-40-5) had won two straight games. The Nailers, who are fighting for a playoff spot, earned two valuable points,

The teams meet again on Wednesday night in West Virginia.
