WHEELING, W. Va. — The Walleye were shut out by Wheeling for the second straight night, falling 3-0 to the Nailers on Wednesday.
Wheeling scored one goal in each period and every one came early in the stanzas. The Nailers scored 4:22 into the game, added another 44 seconds into the second period, and tacked on a final goal 5:26 into the final period.
Wheeling goalie Mike Condon, who stopped 34 shots to get a shutout over the Walleye on Tuesday, finished with 31 saves.
Walleye goalie Jared Coreau (1-12-5) posted 27 saves on 30 shots.
Defenseman Richard Nedomlel had a team-high five shots for Toledo.
Christiaan Minella, Tyler Fernandez, and Tom Kuhnhackl scored for Wheeling.
The Walleye went 0 of 4 on the power play after going 0 of 7 with the man advantage on Tuesday.
Toledo (21-41-5) has now lost two in a row after it had won two straight games. The Nailers, who are fighting for a playoff spot, earned two more valuable points before a crowd of 1,378.
Wheeling shut out Toledo 4-0 on Tuesday night.
The Walleye are now 10-20-4 on the road and 3-7-0 against Wheeling.
Toledo hosts Fort Wayne on Friday night at 7:15 at the Huntington Center.
